If you read Bob Duff’s story about Michael Rasmussen’s suspension, you know Red Wings coach Derek Lalonde wasn’t surprised that the Department of Player Safety looked into the incident.

“At first I didn’t think there was much to it,” Red Wings coach Derek Lalonde said of the Rasmussen capital letter. “Seeing it live was a follow-up. And then you watch it again in slow, slow, slow motion and you can see coming down to the head area, direct contact with the head.

“The league, and rightly so, they’re trying to handle these kinds of plays.”
