It’s that time of year when the Hallmark Channel (with “Countdown to Christmas”) and Hallmark Movies and Mysteries (with “Christmas Miracles”) take over the Hallmark Channels, and we love it. We’re not the only ones, as TV Insider learned when we recently caught up with the movie’s stars on the red carpet for Hallmark Media’s “Countdown to Christmas.”
“I think we all know by now that Hallmark is about Christmas, it’s about connection,” Nadine Ellis (The Holiday Stocking) as stated in the video above. And, as Ashley Williams (Five More Minutes: Moments Like These) notes, it allowed people to find a connection, to feel “unified” during the pandemic, a “real time of isolation.”
And these movies contain stories that everyone can enjoy, viz Vacation sitterJonathan Bennett and George Chrissa share. “We love telling stories on the Hallmark Channel, especially LGBTQ+ Christmas stories, because just like the Hallmark Channel is for everyone, Christmas is for everyone, and these stories are for everyone,” says Bennett. Their film ‘Khushi, Raaz, [and] Hearty,” adds Krisa.
For Andrew Walker (A Maple Valley Christmas, Three wise men and a child), “It’s therapy for me to work on them, and I think it’s the same thing for people watching them.” Victor Webster (A Christmas cookie disaster) echoes that sentiment: “With everything going on in the world right now, it’s nice to be able to live as a family where you know there’s going to be a happy ending.”
Taylor Cole (A long lost Christmas) pointed out, “The promise of a happy ending, I think, is what people need in this world.”
Several stars pointed out how much Hallmark is like family, both on-screen and off-screen.
“Hallmark is one of the most incredible families I’ve ever seen, in this industry but in any industry,” says Erin Cahill (Christmas Bedtime Stories). substance (When I think of Christmas) agrees, explaining, “It’s the people that keep us coming back. Everyone here is really nice people, nice, kind, and they care about you.
Alexa Penavega (Christmas is made to order) sums up well with “Hallmark feels good.” It feels familiar, and it feels like family.
