Sentencing has been adjourned in the case of a Kerry badminton champion who admitted paying a woman to have sex with his children.

Sentencing was also deferred on a woman who admitted producing and selling nude pictures of her two children to Timmy Duggan (35), Mountain Lodge, Annagh, Tralee.

Duggan pleaded guilty to 22 counts, including sexual exploitation and sexual abuse of minors, as well as possession of “child pornography.”

Duggan, a four-time Kerry county badminton champion, had previously been brought back for trial on a total of 47 counts of child sex offenses stemming from four separate Garda investigations, but he entered early pleas at each prosecution.

Duggan’s lawyer said his client’s actions were “deplorable”.

In one of the four cases, Duggan and the mother of a young boy and girl, who were given to Duggan for his own sexual gratification, were initially brought back to trial for a total of 54 offences.

Duggan and the woman, who has not been named to protect the identities of her children, were found guilty of “organizing the production of child pornography; procuring and producing a child for sexual exploitation; causing child trafficking or violence for the purpose of sexual exploitation, preservation of child pornography.”

Duggan paid the mother of the young boy and girl a total of €3,350 to use for his own sexual gratification.

Payments were made via online bank transfer in installments of €300, €250; €200, €150, €100 and €50.

The woman’s lawyer described her as “a very damaged person who is psychologically vulnerable”.

Duggan also admitted trying to solicit sexual favors from two young girls on a Kerry street by offering them money to show him their bare breasts.

All of these offenses took place in the Kerry area between January 2018 and October 2019.

In a second separate case, Duggan pleaded guilty at Limerick Garda Station on April 28, 2016 to knowingly possessing sexual images of three children which gardai found on his mobile phone.

Duggan also pleaded guilty to encouraging or knowingly engaging in activities to distribute, publish, export, sell or display child pornography at an address in Limerick between July 2015 and April 2016.

In another case involving Duggan, a woman is accused of sexually abusing her infant son and knowingly producing child pornography, including text messages that allegedly discussed child sexual abuse with Duggan.

In another case, Duggan pleaded guilty to knowingly possessing child pornography and sexually exploiting two young girls in Limerick in 2016.

In the fourth case, Duggan pleaded guilty to nine felonies, including paying the mother of a young girl to have sex with her daughter and sexually assaulting the girl.

Duggan also admitted to paying another woman to have access to the same girl by having intercourse with another person while the girl was present to gain sexual gratification from the child’s presence.

None of the women have been named to protect the identities of the young victims, who have been handed over to the state along with their siblings.
