Star Indian shuttler and world number five PV Sindhu has pulled out of the BWF World Tour finals in China due to her failure to recover from the left ankle injury she sustained during the 2022 Commonwealth Games, The Hindu reported.
According to a report, two-time Olympic medalist Sindhu has written a letter to the Badminton Association of India citing that she has not recovered from a stress fracture in her left ankle that she sustained while winning the gold medal at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.
With PV Sindhu now out of the World Tour Finals, HS Prannoy remains India’s only representative with Kidambi Srikanth in contention for a place at the Australian Open.
Pair Satwik Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty brought curtains on their season after losing in the quarter-finals of the Hylo Open 2022, while world No. 6 Lakshay Sen pulled out of the Australian Open with a throat infection, effectively ending his season.
