Oppo Find X5 Pro Review: We Found Our Favorites! | Jobi Cool

Oppo Find X5 Pro is a flagship smartphone which is not yet available in India. However, it will compete with Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and iPhone 13 Pro if launched. Learn more about its performance in the review here.

Oppo’s latest Reno 7 series has made an impression in terms of camera and design offered in India. But taking it up a notch, Oppo has introduced the Find X5 Pro 5G, the latest in the Find X series. However, this model is currently on sale in the international market and it is not really known whether it will make it to the Indian market or not. But that doesn’t stop us from exploring what the company can offer its Indian customers in the future! The Find X5 Pro follows the Find X3 that was launched last year. Priced at around Euro 1600, the Find X5 Pro is a flagship phone that’s got a unique design, which helps it stand out from rivals like the iPhone 13 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Although design is an important aspect, is it enough to entice you to buy the phone? Of course not! If you want to invest a lot of money on a smartphone, you want it to be versatile. Performance, features, camera, battery, charging speed are some of the important things. Expectations are high from the Oppo Find X5 Pro and does it tick all the checkboxes? After using it for a while now, that’s all I have to say.

Oppo Find X5 Pro 5G: Design

Find X5 Pro will surely amaze you with its subtle design. Although its design doesn’t differ much from its predecessor Find X3, Oppo has definitely refined the smartphone to enhance its appeal. The back of the phone has a glossy mirror finish, but wait, it’s not glass! It’s ceramic, which makes the phone a bit more durable and scratch-resistant. However, it is not sludge free. Every time you hold the phone, your fingerprint will appear on the back panel.

The camera module juts out gracefully from the curvy ceramic rear panel and ends in a flat surface that houses the lens. On the front paired with Gorilla Glass Victus, the phone gets a large display with curved edges on the sides attached to a metal frame. It also has a punch-hole cutout for the front camera. The bezels are thin but not as thin as the Samsung Galaxy S22.

Find X5 Pro weighs 218 grams but the good part is that the weight is evenly distributed and thus very comfortable to hold. The phone also has IP68 water and dust resistance certification.

Oppo Find X5 Pro 5G display

When almost all smartphone companies are coming up with bigger screens to give people gaming and binge-watching pleasure, Oppo can’t be left behind with its Find X5 Pro. The phone’s display measures 6.7 inches and uses an LTPO 2 10-bit AMOLED panel with 1140p resolution and a 1000Hz touch response rate. The refresh rate varies between 1Hz to 120Hz and the maximum brightness is 1300 nits. With the auto-brightness option turned on, I had no trouble using the phone in bright sunlight or dim light. The brightness automatically adjusted to soothe my eyes.

The display feels smooth and flawless. From unlocking the phone to using the on-display fingerprint sensor to playing games, scrolling through Instagram or even watching movies and videos, I didn’t encounter any issues or problems. The response time to touch is also quick and instant. The screen also offers appreciable color and contrast.

Oppo Find X5 Pro 5G performance

The Oppo Find X5 Pro 5G is a high-end Android flagship powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It runs on Oppo’s ColorOS 12.1 based on Android 12 and manages to handle every task without showing any lag.

From daily use like watching videos, listening to music, playing games (even long hours) to heavy weekend use of the phone, the phone never lost its composure and obeyed all my commands. From playing simple games like Subway Surfer, Temple Run, Candy Crush to playing high-end games, the phone doesn’t suffer from anything and doesn’t get hot even during long hours of operation.

Coming to the user interface, you will find some pre-installed apps on the phone, but this is nothing to worry about as you can uninstall them if not in use. You won’t be bothered by any unnecessary ads and notifications except for apps you’ve allowed!

I liked the audio quality of the phone. While listening to songs or watching movies, the sound and audio quality was commendable. The calling experience is also quite good. But I didn’t like the color saturation on video calls. While on a video call, I noticed a greenish effect on my hair and my skin tone turned reddish-orange.

Also, using the personalization options available under Settings, you can change a lot. From adjusting themes, changing app icon size and shape, and creating your own always-on display, you’ll have the flexibility to keep everything as per your preferences.

Oppo Find X5 Pro 5G Camera

Oppo is one of the brands that offers the best camera performance and the biggest draw on the Find X5 Pro is its set of rear cameras. The phone comes with a triple sensor setup with a primary 50MP Sony IMX766 camera with 5-axis OIS, a second 50MP Sony IMX766 camera with ultra-wide lens and a third 13MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. While the front camera is rated at 32MP.

These cameras rely on a 6nm Oppo MariSilicon chip for image processing duties, which pays dividends in low-light videos. The cameras are also tuned by Hasselblad, which allows the phone to get the X-Pan model we saw on the OnePlus 9 Pro last year.

Pictures clicked from the main camera and in portrait mode gave enhanced colors that looked natural and similar to what we see with our naked eyes. Details in images were also sharp and crisp. However, you need to note that the beautification mode is on automatically and you need to turn it off if you don’t want the orange effect on the skin tone.

According to the company, the MariSilicon X chip improves the quality of pictures clicked at night. And yes, this claim proved true for me. I loved doing night photography using my phone. From color accuracy to minute details, everything felt perfect.

But, not everything impressed me! Especially when it came to zooming. Clicks lose detail and clarity. If you try to zoom in and click on the image of the moon or the sun, you will not get the clarity and effect from the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Coming to video recording, I was impressed with its stability and output with color and contrast. Oppo also provides several modes using which you can click good photos and record videos like pro mode, panorama, slow motion, time-lapse, film, long exposure.

Oppo Find X5 Pro 5G Battery

The Find X5 Pro comes with a 5000mAh battery and gets Oppo’s new 80W fast charging. There is also support for 50W wireless charging. As I use about 4 hours of screen time a day including playing games, using social media, watching videos, taking calls, the battery easily lasts for a day and a half. After a weekend of hard use, it still held its breath for a day. But with the help of the 80W fast charger that comes in the box, I was able to charge the phone from about 20 percent to 100 in about 30 minutes.

If you’re looking for a unique design with good performance, battery life, and fast charging capabilities, then the Oppo Find X5 Pro is worth a look. Although I didn’t like the pictures clicked using the zoom feature, the Find X5 Pro camera otherwise performs fairly well. Also, this phone is currently only available in international markets. Unless you import it, Indian consumers will want a flagship phone with good performance, decent design, decent battery life, good cameras, Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, iPhone 13 Pro among others.
