Locals accuse Airfield Police Station IIC of playing badminton with the murder accused | Jobi Cool

Bhubaneswar. Last evening, tension ran high at the airport police station in the Odisha capital as many residents of Sundarpada village alleged that the IIC of the police station was spending time with several accused in the murder.

They claimed that the police officer played badminton with the accused on the spot.

According to reports, Raghunath Barik, Rashmi Barik, Tushar Behera, Biswajit Routrey and Rajesh Nayak arrested Amaresh Rout of Thalasahi in Sundarpada on November 20 when he was returning home with a woman on a motorcycle.

They beat and injured Amaresh, after which the victim lodged a complaint with the airport police.

Although the police have registered a case against the attackers under relevant sections of the IPC, no action has been taken against them.

The villagers claim that Raghunath, Biswajit and Rajesh are the main accused in the high-profile Amaresh Nayak murder case of 2019. Similarly, Rashmi is accused in the incident of killing a sweet shop owner in Samantharapur, they said Tushar was involved in the kidnapping.

Instead of arresting them, the IIC saw them playing badminton with them, they said.

As they toured the police station facing the incident, ACP Anirudha Routray reached the spot and tried to pacify the locals.

On the directions of the ACP, the airport police arrested Raghunath and made efforts to trace the others.
