A Kerry badminton champion who admitted paying women to have children for his sexual pleasure is due to be sentenced on Thursday, along with a woman who received money from Duggan to allow him to have her baby daughter and son.

Timmy Duggan, 35, of Mountain Lodge, Annagh, Tralee, pleaded guilty to multiple charges including sexual exploitation and sexual abuse of young children. The woman cannot be named to protect the identity of her children.

Duggan, a four-time Kerry county badminton champion, had previously been brought back for trial on a total of 47 counts of child sex offenses stemming from four separate Garda investigations, but he entered early pleas at each prosecution.

In one of the four cases, Duggan and the mother of a young boy and girl, who were given to Duggan for his own sexual gratification, were initially brought back to trial for a total of 54 offences.

Dugan and his wife were found guilty of “organizing the production of child pornography. procuring and producing a child for sexual exploitation; causing child trafficking or violence for the purpose of sexual exploitation, preservation of child pornography.”

According to the charge sheets, Duggan paid the young boy and the girl’s mother a total of €3,350 to use them for his own sexual pleasure. Payments were made via online bank transfer in installments of €300, €250; €200, €150, €100 and €50.

In the same case, Duggan admitted to offering or promising to pay two other young women for child sexual exploitation. All the offenses took place in Kerry between January 2018 and October 2019.

Further cases

In a second separate case, Duggan pleaded guilty to one count of knowingly possessing three images of child sexual abuse which gardai found on his mobile phone on April 28, 2016 at Limerick Garda Station.

Duggan pleaded guilty to an additional charge of encouraging or knowingly causing the distribution, publication, export, sale or display of child pornography at an address in Limerick between July 2015 and April 2016.

In this second case, a female defendant was charged with sexually exploiting a young man, specifically her son, between July 2015 and April 2016 in Kerry.

He was also charged with three counts of knowingly producing child pornography, including in the form of text messages in which children were sexually assaulted, for distribution, publication, export, sale or display at Carey addresses between July. April 2015 and 2016.

In a third separate case, Duggan pleaded guilty to knowingly possessing child pornography and admitted seven counts of sexually exploiting two young girls in Limerick in April 2016.

In a fourth, unrelated case, Duggan pleaded guilty to nine felonies, including paying a young girl’s mother to have sex with her daughter. induce the young girl to touch him inappropriately and sexually assault the girl.

In this case, Duggan also admitted to paying another woman to access the same girl; he also pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual intercourse with another person in the presence of a child for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification from the presence of a child.

None of the women have been named to protect the identities of the young victims, who have been handed over to the state along with their siblings.
