Kanye West has been under fire lately for his ongoing controversy over the rapper’s anti-Semitic comments. In light of the rapper’s comments, several brands he worked closely with dropped their business deals. After initially getting his account banned for his comments, West returned to Instagram.
The rapper who took to Instagram reacted to being dropped by brands and demanded to “see the deals”. Kanye also referenced Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg when he talked about being back on his platform when addressing his return to Instagram. In his post, Kanye wrote: “Let’s see the deals/ The movie deals/ The sports deals/ The music deals/ The mortgages. He further added, “Let’s see the deals/ So we can or better yet do better business/ I’ve been beaten to the core and there’s still no accountability.”
Kanye loses $2 billion in one day
While the rapper dropped the brands, West also responded to Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel, who last week called on the company to stop working with West, writing: “Ari Emanuel. I lost 2 billion dollars in one day. And I’m still alive.” It’s a love speech. I still love you. God still loves you. The money is not who I am. The people are who I am.” West has in the past week been dropped by his CAA rep, lost deals with Adidas, The Gap and Balenciaga and also had his Essentials playlist pulled by Apple Music. His products have reportedly been pulled from shelves at TJ Maxx and cut by Foot Locker.
Kanye’s Twitter comeback
After being suspended on Twitter, Kanye also appeared to be back on the scene after SpaceX CEO Elon Musk took over operations. Musk took ownership of Twitter on Thursday, firing top executives and offering little clarity on how he will achieve the ambitions he has outlined for the social media giant. He also said he would reverse Twitter’s ban on former US President Donald Trump. As for Kanye’s return, however, Musk said on Friday that he was not involved in the reinstatement of rapper Kanye West’s account, which was previously suspended after he posted anti-Semitic comments.
Kanye was also recently escorted out of sneaker manufacturer Skechers’ headquarters in California after showing up unannounced, a day after Adidas ended its partnership with the artist.
