Kanye Laughs About $2B Loss In Branding Deals, Ashanti Breaks Silence On Irv Gotti | Jobi Cool

The Wrap Up with L’Orèal Luchi, keeping you up to date on everything that happened in hip hop culture this week:

Ashanti broke her silence with us first about the Irv Gotti drama. She stopped by EBRO in the AM to discuss why she refused to be in Irv Gotti’s documentary about the Inc. murders. Ashanti said, “When someone goes after you and attacks you, at some point, you have to protect yourself.” She also addressed Irv’s claims that they slept together. Watch the entire conversation now on the BRAND NEW Hot 97 app.

DaBaby defends his controversial lyrics in his song “Boogeyman,” claiming he slept with Megan Thee Stallion a day before Tory Lanez allegedly shot her. DaBaby said he recorded the song before it dropped. Megan appeared to address DaBaby’s song at a concert this summer, saying she can do whatever she wants with her body.

In the interview with EBRO in the AM, DaBaby said, “Don’t put the female power on me because of what you had going on with a friend. It’s no secret that after DaBaby outed Tory Lanez for high rolling last year, Megan wasn’t feeling DaBaby. We’ll see how everything turns out.

Tory Lanez:

Tory Lanez is on a little hiatus. His alleged altercation with August Alsina a few weeks ago has him under house arrest until his trial with Megan Thee Stallion begins next month. Tory did not face any charges in the August Alsina case, and after the ordeal, Tory told TMZ that he was a black man who “fought the world.” He also said that the allegations regarding August were not true. Tory faces assault and weapons charges in connection with the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. Tory pleaded not guilty and the trial is set to begin on November 28.

Kanye West:

After Kanye’s latest Amit Semitic comments, he’s been dropping brands left and right. JP Morgan Chase Bank was one of the first companies to part with it. Kanye also lost his billionaire status after lucrative collaborations with Balenciaga, GAP, Foot Locker, TJ Max, Adidas, CAA and Vogue dropped ties.

Kanye responded to brands dropping him with a meme on IG. His Donda Academy was shut down, but a few hours later (after filming the episode), the school was reopened.

Drake x 21 Savage:

We should be talking about Drake and 21 Savage’s joint project, Her loss, now, but it was pushed back after OVO 40, mixing and mastering the project, contracted COVID. The project arrives on November 4.
