PESHAWAR. Hazara girls upset a strong Peshawar team in the Inter-College Games girls’ badminton final, while a strong Peshawar girls lifted the volleyball trophy by defeating a strong Bannu in a five-set final at the Abdul Wali Khan Charsada Sports Complex on Wednesday.

In the final match, Hazara region suffered a shock defeat to strong Peshawar in a thrilling five-set battle with three singles and two doubles. The score was 3-1 as the Hazara girls won both singles and doubles, while Peshawar registered victories in singles and doubles. Hazara girls played well and did not give much chance to Peshawar players to hit back.

In the volleyball final, Peshawar players won the title by defeating the Bannu district team 3-2, the score was 25-23, 27-29, 25-21, 19-21 and 19-17. The final match created a lot of excitement for the seated crowd and the Bannu girls played some great games.

The Chief Guest of the function was Miss Rashida Ghaznavi, Director Women Games who distributed trophies and cash prizes to the players. Hazara badminton winners were awarded Rs. 110,000 in prize money and the runner-up Peshawar team received Rs. 55,000 cash prize and a trophy and in the volleyball event, Peshawar was awarded Rs. 110,000 as the winning cash prize, while Bannu took home Rs. 55,000 in cash prizes and a runner-up trophy.

Peshawar region secured victory against Malakand while Bannu beat Swat in the semi-final matches of the volleyball event, while in badminton Hazara registered a win against Mardan and Peshawar defeated the Malakand team in the semi-finals.

Boys Games Government College Peshawar Qualified For Cricket Final. Government College Peshawar defeated Government Post Graduate College Dargai Malakand by 29 runs to qualify for the cricket finals of the ongoing Inter-College Games.

Batting first, Government College Peshawar scored 167 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted overs, Zubair 57 with nine boundaries and one six, Nasib Ahmed scored another, smashing 35 off 17 balls with three towering sixes and two boundaries, and Kazi Imaddin stood out. 23 runs with three boundaries.
