When Purpose Built Moto (PBM) got their hands on the Royal Enfield Classic 500, there was a specific list of requirements that main man Charles and the owner of the donor bike, Dave, had to agree on.
The bike had beautiful potential, sure, but something had to be done to deal with his nervousness.
After Dave and Charles put their heads together and gave the 500 its test ride, the dynamic duo decided it needed to be ‘styled in a way that [her] The classic roots show, lowering the overall position of the bike to correct the bobber seating position and classing the whole thing up a bit with some nice fab work and other nice finishes.’ (via Purpose built moto).
First, her 19/18” wheels were swapped for 21/19” rubbers, lowering the steering angle, complemented by low-mounting, one-off 280mm YSS springs and relocating the battery under her swingarm.
The iconic Bobber seat wrapped in custom leather was essential, finishing off the stitched rear end, ED lighting and the stainless steel ‘pop’ of the brackets.
Naturally, no custom job would be complete without a mirror-finished pipe fit to instantly strut your local; This particular system was designed to hug the bottom of the engine and wrap around to exit the other side, PBM fabricating the thing themselves.
To add to the chrome, chrome, chrome aesthetic, Dave requested the fuel tank, fenders, and headlight nacelle be painted a beautiful olive green, with custom RE marks adding the finishing touches.
